About NP

NP is an acronym for No Purpose. It stems from a philosophy of simply enjoying something for what it is. The things we find the most fun are often without purpose. Intrinsically, the thing or activity is enough to make one happy. On the other hand, to find or have a purpose gives one meaning but it implies that there wasn't a purpose to begin with. Out of nothing comes everything.

NP Skateboards started off as a hobby back in 2016. At the time, I couldn't afford name-brand skateboards so instead I got some blank decks. With some fine arts experience, I made my own graphics. Not long after, family and friends asked where I got the boards from so they could purchase their own. That's when the idea to start this venture became apparent.

Around the same time, I got hooked into drifting and drift culture after my brother took me to local events. It was a completely different type of motorsport that, in my opinion, mirrored skate culture. It wasn't so much about competing for first place but going out there with friends and having a good time. Regardless of being good at something or not, it's always better to have a fun experience. -Julius B.
